Inspired by film.   Refined for Lightroom.

Most presets are designed to change a photograph. The Sarah DiCicco Darkroom Collection™ was designed to teach photographers how to build one.

Inspired by traditional darkroom printing and refined through more than 25 years behind the camera, this collection recreates the artistic decisions photographers once made in the darkroom. Using paper selection, contrast filtration, emulsion tone, and print finish, I now use the same techniques in Lightroom.

Rather than relying on a single preset, you'll create photographs the same way master printers created heirloom prints: one intentional layer at a time.

Whether you photograph weddings, portraits, families, editorials, or personal work, The Darkroom Collection provides a complete color & black-and-white system designed to create timeless, consistent imagery that feels crafted rather than filtered.

How it works

01

 Choose your foundation

Start with a paper base, the tonal structure that sets your black point, white point, and overall density.

02

Shape your contrast + tone

Layer in emulsion type and tone to control contrast, color, and mood, the same decisions once made by hand in the darkroom.

03

Finish with texture

Add a surface preset to complete the look, from glossy clarity to the soft grain of a fine art print.

Why the darkroom collection is different

Most preset packs are built around trends. The Darkroom Collection is built around traditional printmaking.

Long before Lightroom existed, photographers shaped their images through paper choice, contrast grades, toning processes, and print finishes. Every decision influenced the emotional impact of the final photograph. This collection brings those same principles into a modern digital workflow.

The result is a flexible system that allows photographers to create a consistent artistic style while maintaining the integrity of every image. You are not applying a look. You are building a timeless piece of art.

Frequently asked questions

Do these work with mobile Lightroom or only desktop?

Yes! Every preset comes in two formats, so you can use them on desktop Lightroom and Lightroom Mobile.

Do I need Lightroom Classic or Lightroom CC?

Either works! The presets are compatible with both Lightroom Classic and Lightroom CC.

Do I need editing experience to use these?

Not at all. Each preset applies with a single click, and if you want to build your own custom look, the Darkroom Collections let you layer different presets together, no editing background required.

Can I use these for client work?

Yes, absolutely! You're welcome to use these on your client work. The one thing to note is that the presets themselves can't be shared, resold, or redistributed, they're for your own personal use in your editing.

What's the difference between the Signature Collection and the Complete Darkroom Collections?

The Signature Collection is five ready-to-use looks, just apply and go. The Darkroom Collections work differently, they're inspired by traditional analogue darkroom printing, think paper types, film grades, and toning, and they're built as building blocks (paper type, tone, texture, and more) that you mix and match to create your own custom style, giving you way more flexibility if you like to fine-tune your edits.
